OFF-DUTY LAPD OFFICER KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN PORTER RANCH

According to ABC 7, an off-duty officer was killed in a traffic collision while riding his motorcycle in Porter Ranch on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old John Gasparyan, a Los Angeles Police Department officer. Gasparyan was off-duty at the time of the crash, which occurred around 6:50 p.m. near Tampa Avenue and Chatsworth Street.

According to authorities, Gasparyan was riding southbound on Tampa Avenue when he collided with another vehicle that was making a U-turn at the intersection. The motorcycle slammed into the back of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Following the accident, Gasparyan was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
